This outer shell is not me
it's just what you choose to see
it depends upon your point of view
and less about seeing what's true

let your inner voice sing and spirit flow 
may your dreams grow roots and continue to grow
let your mind be still in peaceful play
and open your heart and enjoy this day

this outer shell is like a mask
which we may wear for a different task
it's only a sliver of the whole
quite different from heart and soul

This outer shell may fall apart
with broken pride, broken heart
this outer shell will pass away
but something deeper will stay
